Iran cultural attaché calls for promoting Islam in Africa
Lusaka, 2008 Aug 18, IQNA/Zambianews Tehran should promote Islamic culture and civilization in the African continent, Iran's Cultural Attaché to Zambia said.
Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammad Asadi Movahhed made the remark in an interview with IQNA, adding that there is huge potential in the continent to promote the enlightening religion of Islam, thus, Muslim nations ought to pave the ground for disseminating Islamic culture and tenets through education in Africa.
Asadi Movahhed further noted that Iran officially began religious and spiritual programs in Zambia in 1992.
He called for expansion of Islamic and religious education in African schools and mosques as the best way for promoting Islam in the continent.
Describing freedom of religions in Zambia as a great blessing for Muslims, he added that in southern Africa preaching activities are free for all divine religions, and that religious preachers have no obstacle in promoting their religions.
He assessed conversion of Zimbabwean Christians to Islam as indescribable and eye-catching, noting that the parents of all 80 students at Islamic school of Rasoul Akram - the great Prophet Mohammad (PBUH)- in Zambia are Christians, but their children freely take part in the Islamic courses.
