US police's heavy-handed tactics will not stop Oakland protests

Occupy Oakland protesters have planned to shut down all West Coast ports on December 12, three weeks after they closed the Port of Oakland.
According to Press TV, the announcement had been made on the website of the movement at occupywallst.org on November 18, but the move was finalized on Thursday although the International Longshore and Warehouse Union, a powerful labor union, backed down from an earlier support it had vowed to give to the measure. The organizers say their move is aimed at showing their solidarity with the growing Occupy protests across the US. Demonstrators warned that the police's heavy-handed tactics will not stop their protests and say their movement will rise up again after every crackdown. The Occupy movement emerged after a group of demonstrators gathered in New York's financial district on September 17 to protest against the unjust distribution of wealth in the country.
