US Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky who visited Iraq in August said that US has strategy failed and an end is needed to the war.
Representative Jan Schakowsky said at a weekly Democratic radio address: "The president's surge has failed and there is no end in sight for the war in Iraq. This is what I learned on my summer visit to that ravaged country".
Schakowsky said General David Petraeus, commander of US forces in Iraq said that America will be in Iraq for another nine or 10 years.
The congresswoman said: "That was not the timetable neither I nor most Americans had in mind."
Schakowsky, a member of the House's Out of Iraq caucus said: Most Democrats and a growing number of Republicans have come to the same conclusion -- the best way to protect our troops is to end this war in Iraq."
