
Dollar dips on US consumer survey
New York, 2008 Apr 12, IRIB The dollar lost ground Friday on news of a drop in American consumer confidence as traders squared positions ahead of a group of seven finance chiefs meeting late in the day.
The euro rose to 1.5805 dollars at 2100 GMT after 1.5742 late Thursday in New York.
The dollar was meanwhile trading at 100.93 yen, down from 101.88 on Thursday.
A worse-than-expected survey into American consumer confidence stoked concern about the health of the American economy.
Consumer confidence, as measured by the University of Michigan index, fell to 63.2 in early April from a reading of 69.5 in late March, its lowest level since March 1982.
