International Islamic Unity Confab ends on note of success

The 20th International Islamic Unity Conference ended its work in Tehran last night, by issuing a statement.
The statement condemned the divisive measures of the enemies of Islam. It called for better utilization of the Islamic world's capabilities by focusing on the practice and behaviour of the Almighty’s Last Messenger to mankind, Prophet Muhammad (blessings of God upon him and his progeny). It said that such measures will help bridge the gap between the schools of Islamic jurisprudence and ensure scientific and technological progress including the mastering of peaceful nuclear technology.
Islamic unity is one of the goals of the Islamic Revolution and on this basis Imam Khomeini (may his soul rest in peace) declared the Islamic Unity Week 28 years ago on the occasion of the Prophet’s birth anniversary in order to provide suitable grounds for exchange of ideas amongst intellectuals.
It is a religious duty to strengthen Islamic solidarity as the vital need of the Islamic world. It is a political duty as well for Muslim states, which in view of the current sensitive conditions and the plots against the ummah, should close ranks and avoid dissension. The attempts by the enemies to create sectarian divisions in the Islamic world, and charges of formation of a so-called Shi’ite crescent are part of the divisive measures against the Islamic world.
The Islamic Unity Conference was held this year while Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, has termed the year 1386 of the solar hijri calendar as the Year of National Unity and Islamic Solidarity, pointing out that the Islamic world is the target of mischievous plots by the domineering powers. The only way to confront this is for all section of the ummah and the governments of Muslim states to set differences aside in all fields, and to strive to resolve outstanding issues including improvement of the Islamic world's economy and progress in science and technology in order to ensure the Islamic World’s independence.
