Iran celebrates National Nuclear Energy Day
Tehran, 2007/04/09, IRIB
Islamic Iran today is holding nationwide celebrations on the first anniversary of its new scientific leap in making use of peaceful nuclear energy. The installation of 3000 centrifuges today plus the progress of Iranian scientists indicate Iran's readiness to produce nuclear fuel.
This leap takes place on the eve of the 28th anniversary of the US severance of its diplomatic ties with Iran and indicates that this severance not only did not create problems for the newly founded Islamic Republic but has led to its remarkable self-sufficiency in almost all fields. The Islamic Republic of Iran, over the past 28 years, has obtained considerable achievements in the scientific, technological and economic fields indicating the nation's serious will. It has reached self-sufficiency in the fields of stem cells, medicine, nanotechnology, treating AIDS, defence equipment, the aerospace industry and many other industrial fields despite the sanctions and restrictions imposed on it.
The US imposed sanctions on Iran to try to prevent it from becoming a model for other developing countries, but experts believe that Iran's geopolitical situation and its excellent ties with the international community led to the failure of US sanctions against Iran. Other experts believe the world community is not willing to tow the US line in view of the positive impact of Iran's progress on other developing states. Others consider the economic rivalry amongst the industrialized countries for a share in the rich economic pie that Iran offers, to be the reason for the US defeat.
But undoubtedly the Iranian nation's Islamic faith, self-confidence, national awareness and serious will are the most important factors for the Islamic Republic’s success in this regard. Thus observers consider that the West’s imposition of new restrictions coupled with threats, propaganda and psychological war against Iran will utterly fail, like in the past.
