2010/06/15 IRIB
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Tuesday in Assalouyeh that today marked the opening of a new chapter in the Iranian oil industry and further development of the Islamic Republic.
According to IRNA, he made the remark in the Persian Gulf Province of Bushehr following contracts concluded with Iranian companies rather than with foreign firms, for expansion of the remaining phases of the South Pars Gas Field.
The President signed those contracts for expansion of phases 13, 14, 23, 22, 19 and 24 of South Pars.
He noted that the contracts with Iranian companies on the basis of the country's financial resources and national technical expertise to develop the remaining six phases of the South Pars Gas Field were the biggest ever in the Iranian oil industry.
According to Dr. Ahmadinejad in case national capabilities and potentials are prudently used and managed, it is possible to accelerate the speed of Iran's development three times higher than the current pace.
He noted the failure of certain foreign firms to fulfill their commitments in carrying out different projects in the country, saying the hegemonic powers have reached the end of their line.
The President inaugurated a 1,000-MW oil-gas concentrated power plant in the Persian Gulf industrial zone in Assalouyeh.
