Davoudi stresses need for restoration of security in Iraq
Tehran, 2007/01/16, IRNA IRI 1st Vice President here Monday considered restoration of peace, security, and stability prerequisites for Iraqi nation's well being and advancement, and to benefit of regional nations.
Parviz Davoudi made the comment in a meeting with Iraqi Minister without Portfolio in National Security Affairs, Shirvan al-Waeli, emphasizing, "The Islamic Republic of Iran favors establishment of peace and security in Iraq."
He added, "In order to achieve that goal, Iran is ready to share its experience in campaign against terrorist groups and good governance with the popular Iraqi government."
He pointed out that the United States and Britain are continually hatching plots aimed at weakening the relations of the two friendly and brother nations of Iran and Iraq.
The IRI Veep added, "The two nations' officials would very wisely and consciously dismantle the plots hatched by enemies of the Iraqi and Iranian nations, particularly those planned by the United States and Britain."
Davoudi referred to the activities of the Iran-Iraq Supreme Cooperation Headquarters and that HQ's positive role in boosting bilateral ties and cooperation, arguing, "The Iranian investors and experts are ready for making investments and for full cooperation in various fields, including energy and electricity, road and rail road construction in Iraq."
Iraqi Minister al-Waeli, too, during the meeting considered terrorism and massacre of scores of innocent people of Iraq under the supportive umbrella of certain western powers in order to sow seeds of discord in his country as the biggest problem with which Iraq is entangled currently.
He said that the popular Iraqi government that has come to power relying on Iraqi nation's votes is determined to take the lead of security and disciplinary affairs in the country in a bid to establish internal peace and security in Iraq.
Al-Waeli emphasized, "National solidarity, stability, and security are the common demands of the entire Iraqi nation today and in order to secure those objectives the Iraqi government wishes to take advantage of the valuable experience of the Islamic Republic of Iran in various fields.
