Iran's 8th Majlis MPs sworn in

The incoming MPs of the 8th Majlis on Tuesday took the oath of allegiance to the Islamic Republic as the Parliament kicked off its work this morning.

The text of the oath was read by the a senior member of the Majlis, Mohammad-Taqi Rahbar, and the other members repeated it.

The 8th Majlis was inaugurated with recitation of verses from the Holy Quran and a message from the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad also addressed the inaugural session.

The 7th Majlis wound up its four-year term on Sunday.
