2010/06/15 IRIB
President Dr. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said last evening in Tehran in his meeting with Speaker of the Turkish Parliament, Mohammad Ali Shahin, that today Iran and Turkey play a leading role in international equations and that the two Muslim neighbours are the emerging humanitarian powers on the global scene.
According to IRIB, he said Iran and Turkey are trying their utmost to serve the interests of their respective peoples as well as other nations in order to establish peace and justice.
Dr. Ahmadinejad described the trilateral Tehran Declaration inked on May 17 by Iran, Turkey, and Brazil, on nuclear fuel swap, as the beginning of a new course in the world, because the three countries presented something new, in accordance with the nature and healthy aspiration of all world nations.
He added: The Tehran Declaration was not just about Iran's peaceful nuclear activities but presented a new model for proper management of the world on the basis of dialogue, logic, and justice.
Turkish parliament speaker for his part noted that Tehran-Ankara ties have reached an acceptable level, saying that the role of the Iranian government in recent years in boosting bilateral relations is valuable and should be appreciated.
On the recent anti-Iran resolution passed by the UN Security Council, he said the countries that signed the Tehran Declaration are proud, while those that voted for the anti-Iran resolution will remain ashamed.
