The 15th International Holy Quran Exhibition was inaugurated at Tehran's Imam Khomeini Mosalla on the eve of Ramadhan, September 13.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Mohammad-Hossein Saffar Harandi said that the event provides an opportunity for people to become acquainted with the latest scientific research and other activities focusing on the Holy Quran.
“This annual exhibition displays only a fraction of all the projects which are undertaken on the Holy Quran each year, but it always attracts a great number of visitors and is warmly welcomed,” he added.
Saffar Harandi continued that the Holy Quran is a treasure for every individual in the country and in recent years schools, universities, and mosques have shown a great tendency towards increasing their Quranic activities.
The theme of this year's exhibit is “Quranic Life, Islamic Solidarity” and several changes have been made to the event compared with previous years' editions, MNA reported.
This year the section devoted to young adults has been omitted, but instead, every section of the program will have a part dedicated to youth. The children’s section is totally separate.
Research committees have been established in other cities to screen live sessions from the Tehran exhibit which will be broadcast on IRIB’s satellite channels.
The books on display in the exhibition are not for sale, but a separate bookshop has been set up which is selling religious and Quranic works at a 35% discount.
An exhibition featuring the lives of the holy prophets has been set up on the side lines of the event.
The International Holy Quran Exhibition is held annually in Tehran during the holy month of Ramadhan.
In 2000, the 8th International Holy Quran Exhibition, famous Chinese translator of Holy Quran, Professor Yahya Song Lin received the first prize from the then Iran's President Khatami.
Overall, thirty Quran exhibits are scheduled to be held in 30 different Iranian cities during this Ramadhan. |
