
Ayatollah Khamenei calls for Majlis-Government cooperation
Tehran, June 10, IRNA Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said on Tuesday that the 8th Majlis should cooperate with the government because both sides pursue the same goal.
The Supreme Leader made the remark in a meeting with Majlis deputies Tuesday morning.
Religious democracy is based on sovereignty of God, said Ayatollah Khamenei, adding that Majlis deputies should truly be at the service of people. The Supreme Leader also called for convergence among three branches of government.
"If all officials remain committed to the Almighty God in fulfilling their duties, all disputes and differences will be resolved in a calm and a rational atmosphere," said Ayatollah Khamenei.
Law is regarded as the main engine in every society, said the Supreme Leader, noting however that the issue in Iran which has opened a new way for humanity is of prime importance.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has been a vanguard in confronting the tyrannical powers which have trampled upon justice, said the Supreme Leader.
Religious democracy and its symbols such as representing the great Iranian nation have strong roots in the Islamic Republic, said Ayatollah Khamenei, adding that the sovereignty of God is among principles of Islamic ideology.
Addressing the Majlis deputies, the Supreme Leader said a comprehensive law should be regarded as the basis of efforts to resolve people's problems.
The views of experts and intellectuals is of prime importance in dealing with people with different tastes, said Ayatollah Khamenei.
The Supreme Leader underlined that the MPs should maintain their independence in making decision and should never let influential people affect their decisions.
The MPs should be aware that the enemies try to infiltrate into their ranks in order to sow seeds of discords among three branches of government, pointed out the Supreme Leader.
Ayatollah Khamenei thanked the former Majlis speaker Gholam Ali Haddad Adel for fulfilling his duties sincerely.
The Supreme Leader also urged the MPs to be in direct contact with people and try to live a simple life and resist against all plots hatched by the enemies.
The Majlis deputies should rely on God and take advantage of guidance of Holy Quran during their term in office, said the Supreme Leader.
Prior to the Supreme Leader's remarks, new Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani briefed Ayatollah Khamenei on the capabilities of the new Majlis in handling the country's affairs.
