Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei here Thursday hailed Experts Assembly as an assembly with an "exceptional, grave and remarkable" responsibility and asked its members to act in a way to protect its prestige and credit.
"The Experts Assembly is from the public opinion's point of view the assembly of men of religion, science and virtue. One should act in a way that its credit, dignity and prestige would remain intact in the mind of the nation," said Ayatollah Khamenei in an address to the Experts Assembly members.
Commemorating former head of the Assembly the late Ayatollah Ali Meshkini, the Supreme Leader asked the audience to act in a way that their decisions on future leader would be firmly and undoubtedly accepted and welcomed by the public.
The Ayatollah then touched on the enemy and at times certain domestic media propaganda against the Experts Assembly and said the foreign media propaganda is a sign of the enemy's continued hostility against Iran.
"They (foreign media) tried to show the Assembly -- alike other establishments-- as a body engaged in factionalism and the war of power. They (foreign media) launched false propaganda and tried to magnify certain natural differences so as to downgrade the Assembly in the mind of the public," announced Ayatollah Khamenei.
The Supreme Leader said Experts Assembly is not the scene of power but the scene of work for the sake of God and of defending the basic principles of the Islamic Revolution.
"All the Expert Assembly members, including the distinguished presiding board, should take the key points into consideration, be watchful of their words and deeds and vigilantly foil the enemies' hostile propaganda," added the Supreme Leader.
The Ayatollah then warned certain domestic press, that had over the past two months touted lines of the enemy media.
"But certain domestic press followed enemies' false propaganda over the past two months. I warn them not to approach the Experts Assembly and try to play such games with other issues and
subjects instead," warned the Supreme Leader.
Ayatollah Khamenei then called on all to support the three branches of government, especially the executive power and its head, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
The Supreme Leader asked all Muslim nations and governments to maintain unity and be watchful of the arrogance's sectarian, racial and nationalistic plots targeting the world of Islam.
