Tehran, 2007 August 18, IRIB
Iran's president, Dr. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, on August 18 at the 4th meeting of the Ahl al-Bayt General Assembly in Tehran told the ulema and intellectuals of more than 100 countries that the aim of foreign forces' presence in the region is to create division and dominate Muslim ummah's fate. He said the enemies also intend to discredit Muslims.
The gathering of Islamic intellectuals from different countries helps them survey problems and present experts' views to strengthen Islamic unity among different Islamic religions.
Ahmadinejad also analysed the current regional and world conditions, considering the root of all problems and Iraq's continued occupation to be the policies of the system of domination to create division in the Islamic world and the region. The US has since the highly suspicious 9/11 events in 2001 begun a calculated series of measures to distort Islam's image. Its creation of the Taliban and the al-Qaeda terrorist networks, that have distorted Islam's image, its support for schismatic religious groups in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia and trying to create a sectarian conflict in Iraq, are also part of the arrogant powers' plots. This trend is actually the continuation of the US policy to replace the danger of communism with the alleged threat of Islam after the former Soviet Union's disintegration. The US has turned Islam into a fictitious enemy and by accusing Muslims of carrying out terrorist acts it has placed preventive measures on its agenda with the aim of dominating the world's energy resources and creating a unipolar world. Thus undoubtedly, Islamic awareness and unity can lead to the US failure in reaching its goals. |
