
Memorizers of entire Quran study Quranic sciences in Tajikistan's Islamic University

Islamic University of Imam Termezi in Tajikistan takes students in the field of Quranic sciences provided they learn the entire holy Quran by heart, dean of the academic center told IQNA.
Abdaljalal Alizadeh said that the university offers courses in different majors including Quranic sciences, history of Islam, Islamic sciences, religion studies, Arabic language and literature, Islamic philosophy and theology.
The major of Quranic sciences is a newly-established one at the university, he said, adding that the students in this field learn Tajweed (proper pronunciation during recitation), Tarteel (slow, measured rhythmic recitation) and interpretation of the holy Quran among other courses.
Alizadeh said that students from other countries such as Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan study at the Islamic university of Tajikistan, noting that apart from Tajik lecturers, academics from Al-Azhar Islamic Center, Islamic University of Medina and other Islamic centers are invited to teach at the university.
Referring to the history of the university's establishment, he stated that the Islamic University of Imam Termezi, which is affiliated to the Education Ministry, was established ten years ago with the aim of developing Islamic activities among Muslim students.
