IRI model of democracy for ME: Oman Tehran, 2007/05/07, IRIB Head of Iran-Oman parliamentary friendship group in Oman parliament on Sunday termed the Islamic Republic as a model of democracy for the Middle East.
Mohammed Bin Saeed Bin Saif al-Kalbani made the remarks in a meeting with Head of Majlis national security and foreign policy commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi.
Al-Kalbani referred to the systematic consultations between leaders of the two friendly countries on regional and international developments, adding that there is consensus between Tehran and Muscat on regional issues.
Pointing to the abundant crises in the Middle East, he said that there is no need to new dilemma, and that the extra pressure on Iran by foreign powers will only escalate crisis.
The Omani MP also expressed his country's willingness to expand friendly relations with Iran.
Boroujerdi, for his part, expressed pleasure with the increasing exchanges between the two countries, adding that the friendship and brotherhood between Iran and Oman are considered special status among other regional states.
Touching on the expansion of parliamentary cooperation of Iran and Oman as a major factor for strengthening friendly relations in all fields.
The Iranian MP also said that the enemies of the regional nations are after attaining their interests in the region, therefore, they sow discord and stir religious differences in the Middle East and Iraq, in particular.
The situation in Iraq is not acceptable for regional and Islamic countries, he said, adding that the regional states have the responsibility to confront the insecurity in the Arab country.
Pointing to the pressures by the West, in particular America, on the peaceful nuclear program of Iran, he said that Tehran will continue its civilian nuclear activities within the framework of international law and the regulations.
The Omani legislators have come to Tehran at an official invitation by the Majlis Iran-Oman parliamentary friendship group for a three-day tour. Iran-Oman-Democracy |
