   
Navy Quran contest wraps up

The 27th Quran Competition for Iran's Navy personnel concluded in Tehran on Tuesday.
During a ceremony held at Alghadir Mosque, the winners were announced and received their awards. The ceremony was attended by Hojatoleslam Farahani head of the Navy’s Ideo-political Organization as well as a number of Navy commanders.
According to Hojatoleslam Farahani some 2200 Navy personnel took part in the first stage of the contest out of whom 175 made it to the final stage.
He said that the winners will take part in the Army’s overall Quran competition which is slated for mid-November.
Hojatoleslam Farahani thanked all those who helped organize the competition and expressed hope that holding such Quranic events will lead to more contemplation on the lofty teachings of the holy Quran.
He also noted that the Navy’s Ideo-political Organization has several plans for fostering and promoting Quranic activities among the staff.
Later at the ceremony winners of each category received their awards. Mohammadreza Safari, Mohsen Asadi Zeidabadi, Abbasali Khorsand, and Bahram Moradi came first in the categories of recitation, comprehension, memorization and Azan (call to prayers), respectively. |
