Unity Week a suitable opportunity for unity to confront world injustice
Tehran, 2008 March 21, IRNA Substitute Friday prayers leader of Tehran Ayatollah Muhammad Emami Kashani here Friday hoped that the Unity Week (starting March 20) will serve as a suitable opportunity for unity among different Islamic schools of thought to confront the world injustice.
He then drew a comparison between the Supreme Leader's messages and the US President George W. Bush's claims and said a look at the two's words would guide one to appalling differences between the "divine man" (Supreme Leader) and the "materialistic man" (Bush), who is now making troubles for the world.
"The US President, on the other hand, claimed during his election campaign that in case of winning the elections, he would bring the US army out of isolation and dignify the armed forces but to no avail.
"After winning the elections, however, he attacked different countries and hence turned the US and its armed forces as one of the most hated worldwide."
Elsewhere in his sermon, Ayatollah Kashani hailed Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei's New Year guidelines and his designating it as the year of innovation and flourishment.
Iranian new year "Noruz" which falls on spring equinox is celebrated in Iran as national festivity since Persian Empire 3,000 years ago.
The new Iranian year of 1387 AHS starts on March 20, 2008 and will end on March 20, 2009 CE.
Ayatollah Kashani called on all to act on the guidelines and said the executive and legislative officials have graver responsibility than ordinary people in that respect.
"Supreme Leader's guidelines were healing to wounds and problems of the country and of the world of Islam. The statesmen and Majlis representatives have heavier responsibility. They should think on ways of solving country's economic and cultural problems," said the cleric.
He said collective thinking is needed to find innovative solutions to the country's economic and cultural problems and intricacies.
He added that economic flourishment of the country should also cover the poor.
"The proposed models should not be adapted from the West and officials and Majlis deputies should work to present the schemes tailor-made to and consistent with the Islamic regulations. State officials and parliamentarians can through joint efforts and cooperation and sharing information and thought untie the knots.
"The Supreme Leader in his new year message highlighted social needs which I hope all officials have paid enough attention to them," he announced.
To the end of his sermon, Ayatollah Kashani thanked people for massive participation in the 8th Majlis elections on March 14.
"People have by their extensive presence won extreme divine consent and guaranteed the Islamic establishment," he added.
