Staged media show cannot cover up British intrusions: Hosseini
Tehran, 2007/04/06, MNA
The propaganda and the staged show cannot cover up the British military’s violation of Iran’s territorial waters and their repeated illegal entries into the country, Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad-Ali Hosseini said here on Saturday.
Hosseini made the remarks in response to a press conference arranged by the British government for the 15 British sailors and marines who were released by Iran on Wednesday.
The Britons said Friday they were coerced into falsely saying they had entered Iranian waters.
The Iranian armed forces arrested the 15 British marines and sailors on March 23 after they illegally entered Iran’s territorial waters in the northern Persian Gulf.
The immediate transfer of the marines and sailors to a military base, the dictation of instructions to them, and the biased news conference that was disseminated by British and U.S. media outlets cannot damage the existing evidence and documents on the violation of Iran’s territorial integrity by the British military, Hosseini said.
The inappropriate approaches adopted by the British government are not new, he added.
