"To educate children, parents should set an example by words and by deeds. Teaching children good moral should start from the adults. At the same time, we should give more encouragement for our children's study, cultivate their love of learning and should not be studying blindly. The purpose of study must be clear."
In an exclusive interview by the Muslim Herald, the father of a 10-year old Hafiz Quran gave the above advice.
Speaking on the importance of home environment and education to children, Judge Yahya Eslami said, "We are a religious family, our children from an early age are under the good influence of the Islamic faith ."
Judge Yahya Eslami has two sons and two daughters. When they were still small, he took his sons to take part in Quran classes. He recalled that they even usually fall asleep in his arms.
"My purpose of doing so is to allow my children to listen to the recitation of the holy Quran and let them be nurtured," he said.
"Alhumdulillah, my eldest son and eldest daughter have become Hafiz Quran. My fourteen-year-old daughter is now able to recite ten parts of the holy Quran, and she is continuing to learn.
"Muhammad Ali is my youngest son. He has spent only two and a half years to complete memorizing the holy Quran and to become Hafiz," Yahya said emphasising that this was a special blessing from Allah the Almighty.
Hafiz Muhammad Ali Eslami, accompanied by his father, was invited to Hong Kong by the Incorporated Trustees of the Islamic Community Fund of Hong Kong on the occasion of the commemoration
of the birth anniversary of the holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.).
Also invited along with the child Hafiz from the Islamic Republic of Iran was the world-renowned five-member Iranian Tawashih (religious songs) group. Their members included: internationally renowned Hafiz Quran Ustaz Nasser Salleh Dagheleh, team leader Mahdi Dagheleh, team members Nader Jalali, Ghasem Zergani Hassani and Ghasem Zergani.
A Spectacular Majlis
On Sunday March 8, a spectacular majlis was held in Kowloon Masjid. The recitation of the holy Quran by 10 local award-winner-boys was followed by the recitation from Ustaz Nasser Salleh Dagheleh and the Tawashih group. Their rhythmical cadence excited the hearts of every pious brother and sister in the prayer halls.
After Zuhr prayer, Hafiz Muhammad Ali Eslami in his sweet beautiful voice recited the holy Quran at his own choice, and then to the amaze of the public, he could recite on the requests of his brethren any part of the scripture swiftly.
With the assistance of Iran's Consulate General in Hong Kong and Macao, and the hosting of the Trustees, the seven Iranian elites had participated the Friday Prayers in three local masjids and the majlis for the commemoration of the Prophet's birthday at Husseiniyeh, Central. They have been warmly welcomed by Muslims in Hong Kong.
Traditionally every year in the month of Rabi-ul-Awwal, Muslim peoples all over the world, regardless of Sunni or Shia, all schools of thoughts, all warmly hold month-long commemorative activities. The late leader of the Islamic Revolution Imam Khomeini proposed March 12 to 17 as "Unity Week" which has played a significant role to strengthen the unity of Muslims.
