
Powerful earthquake in Indian Ocean

A powerful 6.0-magnitude earthquake hit off the coast of India's Andaman Islands in the Indian Ocean on Sunday August 10, the US Geological Survey said.
The USGS said the epicentre of the quake, which hit at 0820 GMT, was 120 kilometres (74 miles) southwest of Port Blair, the main town on the islands.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre did not issue an alert after the quake, which struck at a depth of 10 kilometres.
