Iran's former president Mohammad Khatami said in Virginia, US, on Friday that dialogue among civilizations is a paradigm standing the ongoing paradigm which considers force and violence sacred.
Khatami, also head of the International Center of Dialogue among Civilizations, told a group of people in Virginia University that violence is the most evident aspect of man's social life, which has become more dreadful and hated in the contemporary world than ever.
He said that irrespective of its historical, economic, political and psychological root causes, violence is product of a sort of logic which is today heard louder than ever from the camp of all the violent-mongers despite all their ideological and political differences.
He called on all the well-wishers and peace-lovers worldwide to make efforts to change the ongoing global paradigms and policies.
He said efforts should be made to save mankind both in the East and the West from the hell of violence, war and terror.
He added that furthermore, efforts should be made the save science and religion from the yoke of the power-monger politicians and turn the two into a spiritual power to curb the violent-monger powers.
Somewhere in his address, Khatami termed insecurity as the big problem of mankind, and said security is something global.
If violence is sanctified it will become more devastating, said Khatami, calling for administration of justice and letting man decide his fate.
He said man's freedom to decide his fate should be officially recognized.
