Tehran, 2005/10/20 - President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad underlined Wednesday October 19 a major responsibility of Islamic governments, that is, the promotion of Quranic culture in society.
He made the remark at a ceremony honoring Quran reciters of various nationalities participating in the 13th International Quran Exhibition.
Stressing the need for Islamic societies to observe Quranic teachings, he said even economic decisions should be guided and implemented taking into account the teachings of the Quran.
President Ahmadinejad, in the ceremony, was awarded a plaque inscribed with a verse of the Holy Quran.
The ongoing 13th International Quran Exhibition is held here annually during the holy month of Ramadhan, which began on October 5.
More than one hundred handwritten Qurans are on display in the exhibition.
Some 25 guests from India, Turkey, China, Tajikistan, Kenya, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Qatar, Lebanon, Kuwait, Iraq, Syria, Egypt, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, France, Albania, Russia, Italy and Bosnia are attending the one-week international exhibition. |
