Exhibition to reflect Islamic Revolution in the mirror of photos
Tehran, 2006/12/27, MNA
The Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance plans to highlight Iranian photographers' role in recording the events of the Islamic Revolution in the Fajr in the Mirror of Photos Exhibition, which will be held in Tehran from February 3 to 8.
The exhibition will have a Presence Section and a Special Section.
Photos taken since March 1979 depicting the Ten-Day Dawn celebrations, including the people's participation in various demonstrations and rallies and art and cultural events, will be put on display in the Presence Section.
The Special Section will feature photos recorded from June 5, 1963 (the day the late Imam Khomeini delivered his historic speech denouncing the shah's regime at the Feizieh School) to February 11, 1979 (the day which marks the victory of the Islamic Revolution).
The photos of this section will portray events such as rallies, demonstrations, strikes, clashes between the people and regime forces, and celebrations on the occasion of Imam Khomeini's return from exile.
The secretary of the exhibition is Seyyed Mehdi Lajevardi, and Seyyed Abbas Mirhashemi, Majid Dukhtehchizadeh, Mojtaba Aqaii, Mohsen Shandiz, and Ahmad Nasirpur are the jury members.
Selected entries to the Fajr in the Mirror of Photos Exhibition will later be permanently displayed at a museum.
Founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini(r.a.) compared the great event to the dawn (fajr) and afterwards several festivals were established bearing the name fajr.
