Fiji's interim Attorney-General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, has urged Muslims in the country to follow the basic principles of Islam which included kindness, compassion and respect for everyone regardless of age, race and religion
Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said Muslims had to follow the footsteps of Prophet Muhammed (s.a.w.a.), who participated in every aspects of community and treated everyone equal under the eyes of God.
Speaking at Prophet Muhammed birthday celebrations organized by the Ma'unatul Islam Association of Fiji at the Drasa Vitogo Mosque in Lautoka, Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said people had to take stock of the fundamental roots of being a Muslim by realizing the beauty of Islam that brought people of all backgrounds together.
We should be confident and proud of Islam. Open your arms and mosques so that people can learn of Islam and not the CNN and BBC versions," he said.
