
Renowned Iranian director Majid Majidi

Iran is due to make the longest and the most costly film on the life of Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.a.) to be directed by renowned director Majid Majidi.
The film which is a historical epic to narrate mostly Prophet Muhammad's childhood and the procedures he went through to become prophet, will be made in three episodes at the expense of US$30 million.
Majidi and the film's producer Mehdi Heidarian have promised to prepare the film for international display in mid 2011.
It has taken three years for Kambozia Partovi and Majid Majidi to finish writing the film's screenplay.
The Iranian director's latest film "Song of Sparrows" was screened in a number of US movie theaters.
"Song of Sparrows" has won critical plaudits for its portrayal of rural life in Iran and striking cinematography depicting the country's natural beauty.
Majidi's 1997 film, Children of Heaven, which was nominated for the 1998 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, has also received numerous international awards including the 1997 Best Festival Film and Audience Best Film awards of the 21st Montreal Festival for World Films.
