American Senator Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., says he will not support an increase in troops in Iraq, a course being considered by George W. Bush.
"I don't believe that that would stabilize the country," Kennedy said adding, "Nor do I think it would bring victory."
Kennedy's comments came in his first interview ever on "Fox News Sunday."
He disagreed with the likely new Senate majority leader.
Kennedy said 40 American troops have died in Iraq since the release of the Iraq Study Group report and while President Bush has been on 'a listening tour'.
"Our military has been in Iraq longer than World War II, World War I. Longer than the Vietnam War," Kennedy said.
He asked Fox host Chris Wallace "Where has this president been? ..."
