Syria refutes claim of secret nuclear program
By Ebrahimi
Damascus, 2008 July 1, IRIB Syrian Foreign Minister, Waleed al-Mu'allem, once again refuted claims in the western media that Syria is running a secret nuclear program.
According to AFP, after IAEA officials visited sites bombed by the Zionist entity, he said: "As a Syrian citizen, I wish that my country would also have a nuclear program in view of the fact that the usurper state of Israel is well ahead in the field of nuclear bombs."
Mu'allem, after meeting with Norwegian Foreign Minister, Jonas Gahr Store, stated: "If Syria had a secret nuclear program, it wouldn't allow IAEA inspectors to visit and inspect its sites."
The IAEA delegation visited Syria last week for the first time to inspect a site called al-Kebr on the banks of River Euphrates.
The Zionist regime bombed the site in September 2007 on the pretext that Syria has nuclear reactors.
Syria has dismissed the US allegation of running a nuclear program, declaring that the bombed site was an old and unused defence barracks.
