World Qods Day has its own features in Palestine. Every year, the Palestinians alongside other Mulim brothers take to streets to make the voice of a wronged nation heard by the world.
This year the Palestinians turned in droves in the streets in the vicinity of the al-Aqsa mosque unlike the expectations and marked the day alongside other Muslim brothers worldwide.
In Gaza some of the marchers spoke to QODSNA reporter.
Jifra al-Safdi, student in Al-Azhar University told QODSNA reporter that the day is an opportunity to remind Muslims of Qods and Al-Aqsa Mosque.
"Qods is part of our Islamic beliefs. World Qods Day is an step to help Al-Aqsa Mosque and purge Zionists from it. Allah's blessing on Imam Khomeini who made many efforts to support Qods," the participant said.
"We hope Muslims and Arabs would wake up from sleep of negligence and beware the Zionists' moves in judaizing the city," Safdi added.
Ahmad al-Tari, director of press and media syndicate said the ceremonies of Qods Day this year are held while the Al-Aqsa Mosque is facing a massive risk from the Israeli digging with Arabs and even the Palestinians unfortunately forgetting the issue amid their differences.
Um Abdallah al-Swafiri believed that the day could be a venue for Muslims to wake up and abandon their discords.
Salim al-Hendi, member of Palestinian youths parliament, described designation of the World Qods Day as an important measure by Imam Khomeini to highlight supporting the Qods issue as the duty for every Muslim.
Asma Wadi, Palestinian professor in contemporary history and journalist urged for participation in the day ceremonies and called on Arabs and Muslims to follow the line of Imam Khomeini in supporting the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Thousands marched in Gaza on Friday, torching the flags of Israel, the United States, and Britain in the Qods Day rally, Al-Alam reported.
Hundreds of demonstrators took to the streets of Kabul on Friday for Qods Day to show support for the Palestinian people and to demonstrate the importance of Al-Qods to all Muslims.
Turkish protesters also attended a Qods Day demonstration in front of the Fatih Mosque in Istanbul. One of their banners said: “Killer Israel, get out of Palestine. Al-Qods has been under Zionist invasion for 40 years.”
