One Iraqi civilian was shot dead and another injured as private security guards fired at people in Baghdad, security officials say.
The officials said Thursday the private guards working for a foreign security company were in a convoy when they fired at the crowd in the central Bab al-Sharji district at around 8:00 pm (1600 GMT).
They gave no more details of the incident.
The killiing of Iraqi civilians by private contractors has long been endemic in the ongoing US occupation. Last year, private security men working for US Blackwater fired on civilians, killing 17.
