Bomb kills female US soldier in Iraq
Baghdad, 2007 Nov 3, Al-Manar
A US occupation soldier was killed when fighters bombed her patrol south of Baghdad on Thursday, the military said on Saturday.
The US military regularly deploys female soldiers on combat patrols in occupied Iraq, especially in operations that involve searching of women detainees.
Meanwhile, three US airmen have been killed during combat operations near an air base north of Baghdad on the same day, US Central Command said. The three were killed on near Balad air base, it said, adding they were "assigned to the Air Force Office of Special Investigations at Balad".
The US military's overall losses in Iraq since the March 2003 US-led invasion have now reached 3,849 according to a tally based on Pentagon figures.
