IRI adopts proactive diplomacy on Iraq
Tehran, 2007/05/30, IRIB
The Islamic Republic of Iran adopted proactive diplomacy to help restore Iraq security, Senior Aide to the Islamic Revolution Leader on Political Affairs Ali Akbar Velayati said on Tuesday.
"Iran declared many times that withdrawal of occupiers is the only solution to help restore security of Iraq and the Islamic Republic of Iran spares no efforts to attain the goal," he told IRNA.
He said that IRI proved goodwill during negotiations with Iraqi and American envoys in Baghdad.
Velayati said that yesterday's meeting was token of understanding shown by IRI in helping remove ambiguities and a call for change of the arrogant literature from certain American officials against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
"The role of regional countries in trilateral negotiations in Iraq was defined and the positive and effective role of the Islamic Republic of Iran was made clear during the meeting."
