D-8 can be pioneer of peace, justice in world

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran said on Tuesday that the Eight Islamic Developing Countries (D-8) could be the pioneer of peace and justice in the world.

In his address to the opening session of the group's sixth Summit, he said, "the D-8 can present a model for fair and peaceful activities to the world."

He voiced Tehran's readiness to help the grouping in different economic, financial, environmental, tourism and energy fields.

President Ahmadinejad also expressed Iran's support for drafting a 10-year vision plan for the D-8 as well as strengthening its Secretariat.

The Iranian president then suggested establishment of an institution by the D-8 member states in order to make use of their potentials for generating energy.

President Ahmadinejad also called on D-8 member states to cooperate in the field of Islamic banking to help sustainable growth of the Muslim developing states.
