Totalitarian and racist policies pursued by Israel has turned the international capital of the world's three greatest religions, occupied holy Qods (Jerusalem), with its 200,000 population, to one of the poorest cities around the globe.
According to a report issued in January by Palestinian news dispatches, some 56% of the Palestinians residing in occupied holy Qods lead lives far below the poverty line.
Based on the same report, confirmed by UNRWA, some 60% of the Palestinians living in Beit-ul-Muqaddas earn monthly incomes below 1,736 shekels (US$1=5 shekels), while the average daily expense of an Israeli citizen is currently around 335 shekels, i.e. 10,050 shekels monthly.
Elsewhere in the report we read, "around half of holy Qods citizens, that is 100,000 people, live below poverty line, 50% of them are aged below 18, most of whom have been urged to drop out of school to assist their families in earning bread."
The west side of holy Qods was occupied by the racist-Zionist regime along with vast other parts of Palestine in 1948 and later on in 1967 Israel completed its occupation of the whole holy city.
