The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is active in Iraq.
According to Monday July 4 report of the American daily, USA TODAY, US Prosecutor General Alberto Gonzales, who was on a stealth one day visit to Iraq said on Sunday July 3 that Baghdad was ready to accept the FBI for cooperation in investigation of murders and assassination of Iraqi state officials.
According to this American daily, Gonzales and Iraqi Prime Minister, Ibrahim Ja’afari met with each other and reached agreement on the issue.
Quoting Gonzales’ advisors, USA TODAY wrote that details of the FBI cooperation plan with the Iraqi police are yet to be released, but certainly FBI and other US investigative agencies will be present at the murder scenes in Iraq along with their Iraqi colleagues to investigate the case together.
