Thousands of Tehrani worshippers launched a rally after taking part in Friday prayers August 19, led by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei in support of the country's peaceful nuclear activities.
The ralliers who chanted such slogans as "down with USA", "down with Britain", "alas! we won't yield to oppression", "peaceful enrichment is our natural right", and "supporting that advance technology is government's duty" described Iran's move in resuming its nuclear activities "a brave move."
The ralliers, among whom there were a number of the country's high ranking officials, started their demonstration from the central campus of the university of Tehran where the capital's Friday prayer is held, continuing it up to the nearby Enqelab Square .
Some demonstrators carried placards some of which read, "US, state sponsor of terrorism", "we would never abandon right to peaceful use of nuclear energy", and "Iranians would never yield to oppression."
