The Iranian-operated satellite Mesbah is set to be launched to space within the coming months after passing technical stages, an official revealed in Tehran, Wednesday July 20.
The satellite is planned to take birth in the air late on September, Mohammad Hassan Entezari said, who directs the project.
"Researchers from home and abroad have joined forces in the project".
Future projects of the kind will be pushed through in the hands of fully internal resources, the director added.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Supreme Council of Space Technology held first session late Tuesday with President Mohammad Khatami attending the debate.
President Khatami stressed the importance of space activities and studies in the meeting which was also attended by Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technology Ahmad Motamedi, Minister of Defense and Armed Forces Ali Shamkhani and also Minister of Roads and Transportation Mohammad Rahmati.
He also underlined the importance of active presence of Iran in the space technology and described it as effective step towards sustainable development and national sovereignty.
Referring to the significant role of space-related information in sustainable development of country, President Khatami further expressed hope that Iranian space sector could elevate Iran's position in the area of international space technology.
