Iran's new president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad underlined that a government with faithful, immaculate, courageous, efficient, experienced and persistent ministers will render the best service to the public and will pave the way for charging the people with current affairs.
Speaking in an interview on Sunday August 14 evening in Tehran, he referred to solidarity of government members as a significant feature of the new cabinet.
"The ministers have a dual position in the government. The cabinet is a single body acting in coordination to develop the country.
"Therefore, every individual cabinet member should feel responsible towards the current affairs and accomplish their duties with one another's close assistance," he added.
Turning to the fact that lack of coordination among various organizations will damage the country, he noted that our objective is to construct and develop the country.
"Intra-organizational coordination will orient the entire organization towards pre-planned goals, while inter-organizational coordination among the bodies required exchanging expertise, will advance properly the affairs in a definite field.
"For example, in the domain of culture such a procedure will lead to operational support of the national and Islamic culture," added the President.
Reiterating the need for general coordination among various sectors, he noted that the economic sector should act in harmony with the cultural sector and support it and that cultural affairs should not be ignored on account of economic concerns.
In response to a question about his expectation from Majlis, Ahmadinejad said that the government and parliament are the nation's two arms, both of which should administer the affairs through coordination and solidarity.
He stressed that Majlis decision on the issue should be enforced and noted, "Irrespective of the nature of Majlis decision, it will be respected since 290 individuals can certainly manage to come up with a better decision than a single person. However, I hope that the whole cabinet will after all get a vote of confidence from Majlis."
About some of the proposed ministers, whose names have not been heard at political circles even once, Ahmadinejad said that all the named individuals are dearly respected by the ruling Islamic system and the nation.
"We have done our best to select them in accordance with the required criteria and all the listed individuals are meritorious and intelligent. I would like to appreciate every one of them.
"We should try to enlarge the managerial circle to some extent, which is valuable and at the same time difficult. Whoever takes such a decision takes a risk, given that working with administrators having a clear background along with 20-30 years of work experience is easy," added the President.
Ahmadinejad noted that new talents, thoughts, morale and determinations should be allowed to be applied in the administrative level and hoped to witness changes in running the current affairs.
About Constitution Article 142, according to which the President, ministers and heads of three powers should declare their own and their families possessions to the judicial branch of power at the outset and end of their term in office, he said that once the cabinet members are officially given a vote of confidence by Majlis, they will proceed to do so with honor.
Meanwhile, Ahmadinejad expounded briefly on the issues ratified by the government during the recent two meetings including Bam earthquake, the farmers undergoing loss and guarantee to purchase their agricultural products, the recent flood in Golestan province, government's reports on cholera, the process of Iran's nuclear negotiations, the country's general condition at present as well as his meetings and talks with the presidents and officials from other countries.
During the interview, Ahmadinejad once more underlined the four principles of promoting justice, affection, rendering service and multifaceted material and spiritual progress on the national scene.
He stressed that the principles declared by the present government within the framework of the Islamic Republic have actually been derived from Imam Ali's (a.s.) attitude.
The President thanked the Almighty God for the opportunity provided for the new government to resume their work at the beginning of the auspicious lunar month of Rajab coinciding with the birthday of Imam Ali (a.s.) and the appointment of Prophet Mohammad (s.a.w.a.) to prophethood.
He hoped that the government, all organizations and institutions would follow Imam Ali's (a.s.) attitude.
