Reciters, memorizers from 65 countries to attend Owqaf Int'l Quran Competition

Some 65 countries have so far accepted invitations to dispatch Quran reciters and memorizers to the 25th Owqaf International Holy Quran Competition.
The contest is set to be held in Mashhad, Khorasan Razavi Province, from July 29 to August 5.
According to the executive secretary of the competition, Ali Yousefi, it is the first time that the event is held out of the capital, Tehran.
Pointing to the religious and spiritual atmosphere of the holy city of Mashhad, home to the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS), he said that holding the Quranic competition in Mashhad is a step forward in promoting the Razavi culture.
Yousefi also told IQNA that eight Iranian and six Arab arbiters will make up the competition's panel of judges.
A number of Quranic sessions, along with an exhibition on Quranic software productions, will also be held on the sidelines of the competition, he went on to say.
