
“Thematic Interpretation of Quran”
international meeting
opens in UAE

An international meeting on “Thematic Interpretation of Quran; Realities and Perspectives” has been held at Faculty of Theology and Islamic Studies in Sharjah University of the UAE.
According to WAM, the meeting has been attended by over 50 Quran interpreters, intellectuals and researchers from Arab and Islamic countries as well as a number of religious figures and state officials of the UAE.
Significance of thematic interpretation of the holy Quran in Muslims lives, various methods of thematic interpretation of the Quran, status of this interpretation in academic researches and compilation of an encyclopaedia of thematic interpretation of the Quran are the themes of the two-day meeting.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the program, Saeed Sabri, deputy of academic affairs of the university said: “thematic interpretation is regarded as a modern method of interpretation which has led to outstanding progresses in Quranic researches.”
Qarashi Abdul Rahim, dean of the faculty and secretariat of the meeting also stressed paying due attention to Quran interpretation and research in the divine book to extract its valuable treasures.
He believed that such an interpretation with its comprehensive view in probing the verses results in discovering Quranic realities and concepts which helps to find solutions for problems of modern civilization.
A number of Quranic and Islamic institutions of the UAE, including Dubai International Holy Quran Award, Quran and Sunnah Institute in Sharjah, Al-Sharit Islamic Center and Latifah bint Mohammad Award for Children Innovations and the Faculty of Theology and Islamic Studies of Sharjah University have presented their products at the sidelines of the meeting.
The meeting has been organized in cooperation with Ajman University of the UAE, as well as a number of universities from Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Lebanon, Jordan, Yemen, Iraq, Egypt, Algeria, Kuwait, Morocco, Malaysia and Libya.
